I
have used Aging Outreach Services for nearly five years. The care managers
are always on call and have helped me with many visits to the doctors
and hospital. Aging Outreach has given me the confidence to live alone
and live in my own house.

From my perspective , the things that AOS were able to provide for my father
and for our family was compassionate and professional advice on a range
of complicated and at times delicate personal, financial, emotional, legal,
and medical issues. I know my father greatly appreciated the people at
AOS and what they did with him and for him. As none of my fathers family
lived in Moore County, we, too valued having someone in Moore County who
always put our father's interests first.

My parents are in their late 80s, and have long expressed their strong
preference for staying in their own home rather than moving to an assisted
living facility. With normal elderly aging problems this became more and
more problematic because my brothers and I live in states far distant
from mom and dad. In addition, the emotional wear and tear on us was becoming
too much, as we worried from afar how mom and dad were doing from day
to day - they are hard to read over the phone, so were they minimizing
a cough that was verging on bronchitis or pneumonia? We have been clients
of AOS for two years, and what a wonderful difference it has made in all
our lives. The caregivers are uniformly professional, patient, and highly
skilled. No more do we have to worry about day-to-day health issues, as
the aides monitor and keep us informed. They pick up indicators before
they bloom into problems. If something is a real problem, we are notified.
If an emergency arises, AOS personnel are with mom and dad in those crucial
first hours before one of us can hop on a plane. Even routine things like
doctors' appointments have become easier and more informative for us,
as an aide goes with my parents and therefore we get accurate information
about the visit. I know there would be no way for mom and dad to maintain
living in their own home without AOS. And I know my brothers and I are
much more secure knowing mom and dad have help in numerous areas of their
lives. The final benefit is that our frequent visits now are relaxed and
fun as a family, since there is no need to cross-examine mom and dad to
find out how they really are doing and no more frantic agenda of multiple
doctor appointments to squeeze in during the stay so that we can go with
them. Having AOS has meant much less emotional wear and tear on all of
us. Priceless!

Aging Outreach Services was a lifeline for me in the four years between
my father's decline into a difficult dementia and his death. As I live
3000 miles away, I relied on them with complete confidence to keep him
safe while he was still at home, and then to oversee his care in several
facilities, moving him at a moment's notice, supplying him, with companionship
and provisions, heading off problems, teaching me about his condition,
and being my eyes and ears. I was terribly lucky to find them.

I have a loved one who is a client of Aging Outreach Services. What I
most appreciate about this organization is the attitude of respect for
its clients which is demonstrated in the caring way services are personalized
for the individual. Much attention is paid to helping the client retain
as much dignity as possible, even when circumstance make this most difficult.
The caregivers are very patient and seem well suited for the task, and
supervision is excellent. I also have been pleased with the frequent communications
I receive from AOS.
